Lyrically, the verse “back ends” coalesce in a cool way, using similar lines and then the same lines — which you could call lazy, but I don’t think you should be smarmy about anything in pop that you don’t see too often. Good going, whichever one of you five Maroony guys crafted this cool little “words-zipper.” My money’s on the tall Gump-cut guy, he seems like he’s going places — he must be a solid dude for all these women to let him sing in their video.
I’d hesitate to call Hiroshi Yoshimura’s Music for Nine Post Cards a lost treasure, as this record has very much been sought after since its initial release. Yoshimura composed this music while watching the scenery outside the window change; clouds passing, sunlight flickering, and leaves moving in the wind. He recorded it and offered it to a contemporary museum in Tokyo to be played next to the window overlooking their courtyard. After some time, Satoshi Ashikawa (see below) started his label and the resulting “Wave Notation” series, to publish this ambient masterpiece after museumgoers started calling to ask where they could buy it.
In several interviews, Sandison and Eoin reveal how they love using old reel-to-reel, four-track, and cassette tape machines as pseudo-preamps to impart a certain sound. The aim was to drive the inputs on this old tech and harness its audio downsampling, imprinting a sense of nostalgia and decay right into the tracking process of the recording.

“Stefano and I focused in on a couple things: the sound design of his digital strings, achieving simplicity and dynamism in the arrangement, and drawing out emotions through the piece. Stefano worked in the DAW rather than through notation, and so we played with realism by leaving the grid behind and allowing individual instruments to shine through. We also worked on simplifying elements of the arrangements, particularly the chordal and polyphonic textures, so that the main melodies felt clear and coherent.
That means no initial investment is needed, there’s no financial risk, no obligation (they can use their own partners), and artists and label keep 100% control over their intellectual property!
[AC]: “I think the most interesting thing about this is that even participants or listeners who don’t have any musical training show the similar patterns. So in your head, I’m sure you’re not really thinking, ‘How important is that tone?’ You’re giving it a rating based on your gut feeling.”
Try to remember, firstly, that you are not wrong for feeling insecure and secondly, that you are definitely not alone in having these feelings as an aspiring singer.

“No Limit”: I’m going with the track itself here, not the video, which is over six minutes of some more wordsmiths taking their turns. Not sure whether to call the “get some money” bit a pre-, post-, bridge, or a refrain: maybe not a bridge because it appears too early, and not a pre- as it’s after the chorus. I’m going with a post-chorus, as its repetition is too long for a refrain, and we’ve already got a chorus.
